Last night I sat in my scrappy room and had my Cricut cut a bunch of different paper flowers. I wanted to make a bouquet of some sort but wasn’t sure which direction to go. I saw a tutorial on this a while back but couldn’t remember where, so going based on memory, I winged the biggest part of it. Each of these flowers has 5 to 7 different layers – each one different and all either inked, embossed, stickled or a mixture of the three. I used a few different types of brads to hold them together and then glued the back of the flower to a very small dowel rod. The wrapping for the bouquet is a 12 x12 sheet of decorative cardstock with inked edges (to flow with the flowers). I used a sheer ribbon to run through the top sides of the wrapper and also used a Tim Holtz hinge on the side for my heart and butterfly. I threaded the hinge through the ribbon and it dangles really nice. I tied the bow at the top first and then just pulled my ribbon on through until it was positioned on the side. Oh! Before I forget! The flowers were run through a 3″ round piece of chipboard with holes cut in for the dowels to fit through. I used my cropadile for that – 3/16″ side.

Cute project. The colors used here look very autumn-ish to me.

We’ve all seen these new picture frames that have fabric coverings and bling, nice quotes, bows, etc. They’re so cute and some are really expensive! I sat in my scrap room the other night and pondered how I could make one of these frames – I own a few but how neat to be able to make one the way you want – WHEN you want it!

All I used for this was 2 sheets of 12×12 chipboard cut down to 11×11 to accomodate my paper and a sheet of acetate for the picture cover (instead of glass). I cut a 5×7 rectangle out of the first sheet of chipboard and then covered it with my choice of paper. I cut another 5×7 out on the second sheet of chipboard, but only on three sides of the 5×7, leaving one side attached to act as a hinge for changing out the picture – and then I covered the back. Once the acetate was cut and glued into place on the first sheet, I glued the two sheets together and adorned my frame like I wanted. Oh! I wrapped the ribbon around the top of the first sheet before gluing them together though. The bow was tied later.

This was a fun project too. Time consuming at first because I was just winging it – but the second one came along a lot faster. Matt uses it at his station at work.

Ok, so I didn’t exactly do absolutely nothing over the summer as far as physical scrap booking goes. I just didn’t keep up with my blog!

I discovered what fun it is to make greeting cards – and what an addiction this is! So much fun and the possibilities are absolutely endless. Then add on that I recently bought some stamps and played around with embossing powders. I’ve just been having a blast!

I decided to make some greeting cards to keep handy for sending out to friends and family. Don’t look too close though, you might be getting one of them!

Here’s a sampling of a few that I made:

During the summer I came across a tutorial on youtube that was hosted by a man named Tim Holtz. I fell in love immediately (not with him but with the hardware he was using – ok, so he’s not bad either) and had to purchase some of my own. The keys and keyholes are fabulous along with the philosophy tags, foliage – there’s just too much to list!

Tim’s style is very grungy which fits me perfectly. (haha) There’s not much in his line that I haven’t gotten yet. Grunge board is next on my “to get” list.

Anyway, on to the project – the photo box.

This is a 5×5 inch box made entirely of 80 and 90 lb. cardstock. Bazzill makes up the biggest part of this box and I used some scrap pieces here and there for extra support on the bottom. American tag made the 3/4″ antique copper corners and the regular brads. There is a copper tag and button brad made by Spare Parts and the foliage, key and lock are Tim Holtz, as is the safety pin and “moments” medallion. Three sides of the box have frames that will hold 4×4 pictures and the tops of the frames are left open so that you can interchange your pics when you choose. The top of the box was inked with a Tim Holtz flourish mask. Lots of fun making this!

I haven’t had much to blog about these past few days. After Easter things calmed down just a little and I was able to get a cork board made for my scrap room. Thanks Matt! I wanted the board to post random thoughts and ideas on so that I don’t forget. I have a bad habit of that! If I don’t write it down, I forget and then later kick myself because – “ohh what was that thing I wanted to do.. oh it would have been so cute.. CRUD! I FORGOT!” Yeah, I hate that. So, this board should help me. I also got a new picture printer for the scrap room and picked up a new picture/paper cutter at Grant’s. It’s a Marvy by Uchida and so far I’m impressed. I had been using the Provo Craft/Cricut personal cutter and even with new blades and cleaning the unit, it was still fraying the edges of my pictures and card stock. Also new in the scrap room is a mini Kenmore sewing machine and what a hoot this little guy is! It’s a beginner machine and Matt picked it up for me at K Mart for around $70. It does a straight or zig zag stitch at different lengths and works fabulously on the papers. I never thought I’d see the day where I was sewing paper, but this little machine is so handy for adding something extra to my pages. I love it!

So, all of these new additions left me with quite an organizational mess in my room and it’s taken a few days to get everything where I think I want it. I’ve realized I need more shelves for sure and have informed my live-in contractor. What would I do without him? New pictures coming soon!
